Fee

Every map is different, so pricing depends on the amount of illustration and overall complexity. Most of my Nate’s commissions fall between $3,000 and $8,000, though he can usually adjust the scope to fit a variety of budgets.

Process

Creating a great map is a collaborative process. Nate works iteratively, sharing his work along the way so there are no surprises.

Sketch → Review → Revise → Illustrate → Review → Revise → Finalize

You'll be involved throughout the project, ensuring the final map is both beautiful and useful.

Timeline

Most projects take 2–8 weeks, depending on complexity and how quickly feedback is exchanged. If you have a deadline, let Nate know early—he will do his best to accommodate tight schedules whenever possible.

Preparation

To prepare an accurate quote, a scope of work will be definee:
  • The area to be mapped
  • The purpose of the map (navigation, tourism, education, marketing, etc.)
  • The key points of interest
  • The final size and where the map will be used (print, web, signage, merchandise, etc.)

Deliverables

Nate’s maps are created in Adobe Illustrator as 100% vector artwork. He will provide high-resolution files ready for print and digital use. Editable Illustrator files can be included if needed.

Usage Rights

Every project includes clearly defined usage rights. Whether the map will appear on a website, in print, or across multiple platforms, Nate will ensure the licensing terms matches your needs from the start.

Nate’s Goal

Nate says “My job isn't simply to draw a map—it's to create a visual tool that helps people understand a place, tells its story, and reflects your organization. Clear communication, thoughtful collaboration, and no surprises—that's how I like to work.”
